Event Details
As chapters increasingly rely on newer members for key leadership roles, many student leaders are stepping in before they’re fully prepared while older members check out. This session explores this leadership disconnect using data, research, and student focus groups across four councils (IFC, MGC, NPHC, PHA). Attendees will gain insight into why underclassmen often feel underprepared and unequipped and why upperclassmen disengage, along with strategies for advisors to better support emerging leaders and reengage seasoned members.
As a result of attending this program, attendees will…
- Articulate key factors contributing to upper-class student disengagement and apply targeted strategies to re-engage them in chapter leadership and involvement.
- Identify and implement specific tactics to effectively support the leadership development of younger and emerging student leaders.
