Communities of Practice

AFA is excited to support three (3) Communities of Practice for current members! These spaces are designed to center salient professional functions and responsibilities within the field:

FSL Directors

The Conduct & Accountability Community of Practice serves as a collaborative and empowering space for professionals engaged in conduct and accountability work. The Conduct & Accountability Community of Practice directly serves the following groups of professionals:

  • Those whose primary responsibilities center on conduct and accountability work;
  • Those for whom conduct and accountability constitute a component of their broader role;
  • Those whose roles in harm and risk reduction and prevention intersect with conduct and accountability work.

The Education & Programming Community of Practice serves as a collaborative and empowering space for professionals engaged in education and programming work. The Education & Programming Community of Practice directly serves the following groups of professionals:

  • Those whose primary responsibilities center on education and programming work;
  • Those for whom education and programming constitute a component of their broader role.

The FSL Directors Community of Practice serves as a collaborative and empowering space for professionals leading their campus FSL department. The FSL Directors Community of Practice directly serves the following groups of professionals:

  • Those who are Directors of a college/university fraternity & sorority life department;
  • Those who are the senior-most professional with financial and/or hiring authority who direct operations for a college/university fraternity & sorority life department.

Communities of Practice are an AFA member benefit. During the Member Sign-Up & Renewal process, one of the registration prompts asks members to indicate their interest in any of the Communities of Practice listed above. If a member selected any of the Communities of Practice and has completed payment for their AFA membership, they will be added to their membership list for further communications on getting involved. If members do not recall making a selection or would like to update their selections, they may email info@afa1976.org for assistance.
