AFA/MJ Sorority Health Promotions Certificate
Building healthier fraternity and sorority communities starts with equipped professionals. AFA is excited to share that registration is now open for the Foundations in Fraternity/Sorority Life Health Promotions Certificate Program, a course designed specifically for FSL practitioners ready to deepen their prevention knowledge and put it to work on their campuses.
Made possible through a generous gift from MJ Sorority to the AFA Foundation, this program is designed to provide fraternity/sorority professionals with a synthesized, foundational understanding of prevention scholarship and a practical framework for applying that knowledge in their unique sphere of influence.
Course Format
The Health Promotions course is a hybrid program that blends self-directed learning with live, collaborative sessions. Asynchronous coursework — including lecturettes, readings, assignments, and scenario-based exercises — focus on building participants’ foundational knowledge at their own pace.
Each week, participants will come together for a 90-minute live virtual session to discuss concepts, apply prevention frameworks alongside colleagues, and check understanding through facilitated dialogue. Participants can expect to invest roughly 2-3 hours per week on asynchronous work plus 90 minutes per week in live, synchronous sessions.
Program Dates
The summer 2026 cohort will begin on Friday, June 5. Live, virtual sync sessions will take place weekly on Thursdays, from 12:30pm – 2 p.m. ET beginning on Thursday, June 11 and continuing through Thursday, July 16.
NOTE: Virtual synchronous sessions will be recorded for participants who are unable to participate live. Participants are expected to attend at least four live, virtual sync sessions to receive credit for participating in the program.
Registration
Registration is required for this event, and is available on FSCentral. The registration fee is $400 for AFA members and $500 for non-members. Costs help AFA fund the technology, labor, and presenter costs of its programs, and support AFA in crafting high-quality, self-sustaining professional development programming.
