AFA is proud to be a lead partner in the development of the Student Affairs Educator Certification through the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification. This consortium includes representation from each of the founding association partners, including NASPA, ACUHO-I, ACUI, NACA, ASCA, and NIRSA. In addition to the general certification, several specialty certifications are available, including a Fraternity/Sorority Life specialization (CSAEd-FSL).
Eligibility Criteria
Participation in the CSAEdâ„¢ certification programs are voluntary and open to anyone meeting candidate eligibility requirements at the time of application. Individuals applying for CSAEdâ„¢ core or a specialty certification must meet detailed education and work experience requirements at the time of application submission. View Eligibility Criteria
Qualifying employment experience is defined as being employed full-time in student affairs or student services in a higher education setting (e.g., a fraternity/sorority inter/national headquarters).
How to Apply
The winter 2025 Certification application cycle opens is open through February 14, 2025 (11:59 p.m. PST). The winter 2025 exam period will be from February 17 – March 31. For more information, please visit https://studentaffairscertification.org/get-certified/how-to-apply.

The Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification promotes and advances student affairs and services in higher education by assessing and recognizing individual educators who demonstrate competency in established domains, commit to ongoing learning and professional development, and comply with the code of ethics. The Consortium was collaboratively established by student affairs professional associations to manage Student Affairs Educator Certification.
