Event Details

Hazing persists when unhealthy behaviors, trauma bonding, alumni influence, and power dynamics become embedded in fraternity and sorority culture. Grounded in the Hazing Prevention Framework, this session unpacks why harmful practices endure and where prevention efforts often fall short. Using case studies, an examination of social roles and authority, and collaborative strategy-building, participants will move beyond surface-level solutions toward meaningful, systemic culture change.

As a result of attending this program, attendees will…

  • Be able to define hazing and identify its psychological, emotional, and cultural impacts.
  • Be able to recognize how unhealthy behaviors and trauma within fraternities and sororities contribute to the persistence of hazing.
  • Be able to evaluate hazing prevention efforts by applying the Hazing Prevention Framework to identify barriers and develop transparent, effective strategies for lasting culture change aligned with organizational values.
