AFA Foundation adds four new members to Board of Directors

The AFA Foundation is excited to announce four new members of the AFA Foundation Board of Directors, who all joined during the Board’s June 2026 in-person meeting in Indianapolis.

Robert Alberts

Robert Alberts currently serves as the Director of Fraternity Services for Beta Theta Pi. Robert’s career has taken him through higher education, social work, and fraternity and sorority life, with a common thread of helping people find connection, purpose, and opportunities to grow.

“AFA has given me so much throughout my career, and I am excited for the opportunity to help ensure others can access those same experiences, connections, and opportunities for growth,” said Alberts.

Robert continues to volunteer within the profession with a deep care for the communities, friendships, mentorship, and professional development found through AFA that have had a lasting impact on his life and career.

Hunter Carlheim

With 10+ years in Fraternity and Sorority Life, Hunter serves as the Director of Greek Life and Student Societies at Dartmouth College after having received his bachelor’s degree from Robert Morris University and master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As a first-generation student and a life-long learner, he has merged his passions for education and FSL to inspire others to do and be better.

“My motto is to leave the world better than I found it, and I am excited to serve on the AFA Foundation because it gives me an opportunity to meet more members while hopefully inspiring them to get involved in new opportunities, take advantage of education, grow as professionals, and leave a positive legacy for the future of our field. I was, and continue to be, provided so many opportunities through AFA and our community, and I want others to feel that support through AFA!”

Inspired by his time as a Consultant for Phi Delta Theta, Hunter is an avid traveler, having been to all 48 contiguous states and over 150 college campuses.

Hunter Hartwig

Hunter Hartwig serves as the Associate Director of Council Leadership for Sorority and Fraternity Life at The Ohio State University where he has worked for the last ten years. He is an active volunteer with his home chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at LSU and stays involved in the Columbus LGBTQ+ community through his softball and bowling leagues.

“I’m most excited to build meaningful donor relationships with our members so that their contributions have the impact that benefits both the Association and their member experience,” said Hartwig.

Hunter also loves to travel and to explore new things to do in Columbus with his husband, Ryan and two dogs, Louis and Kevin.

McKenzie Pendry

McKenzie Pendry has dedicated nearly a decade to supporting fraternity and sorority communities in leadership development, belonging, and values-based organizational growth. In addition to her role as Chapter Success Manager for Risk Management at Tri Delta, she is completing her dissertation on how fraternities can influence inclusive masculinity development, reflecting her commitment to helping students become compassionate, accountable leaders.

“I believe the professionals who pour so much of themselves into supporting students and other related stakeholders deserve to be poured into as well,” said Pendry. “I am excited to serve the AFA Foundation because investing in our development only strengthens our field and expands our collective impact on the communities we serve.”

When she isn’t working or researching, McKenzie enjoys making memories with her husband and son, following the Chicago Cubs, listening to The Beatles, and finding time for a good video game.
