Building upon their original commitment as the first umbrella organization to establish an endowment with the AFA Foundation, the National Association for Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) announced a $25,000 gift to ‘Elevate the Standard’ for the expansion of the NALFO Unity Endowment.
“NALFO believes that stronger fraternity and sorority professionals means better, stronger NALFO chapters and councils,” said Dr. Cristina Luna, NALFO president. “The National Association for Latino Fraternal Organizations is proud to announce a continued investment alongside the AFA Foundation to ‘Elevate the Standard’ among Latino Greek Letter Organizations.”
The NALFO Unity Endowment, established in 2018 and funded by the collaborative efforts of NALFO member organizations, exists to advance programs, services, and educational opportunities that center equity, diversity, and inclusion; educate fraternity/sorority advisors on how to empower Latinx fraternal organizations; and advance an understanding of Latinx student populations.
“Our second phase of the NALFO Unity endowment is focused on access and building our presence and brand at the AFA Annual Meeting, ensuring NALFO member organizations continue to be engaged in the work of our profession,” said Luna. “We aim to support organizational operations, board development, and campus partnerships through the addition of annual meeting scholarships for leadership of our member organizations.”
This expansion of the NALFO Unity Endowment expands the opportunity for AFA to invest in its equity, diversity, and inclusion programming that better prepares professionals to support a changing student population, and provides need-based scholarships specific to leaders of NALFO fraternities and sororities to attend the AFA Annual Meeting, ensuring NALFO leaders stay engaged in the meaningful and transformative work of our profession.
