‘Elevate the Standard’ Campaign Celebrates and Welcomes New Leadership-Level Donors

The ‘Elevate the Standard’ campaign continues to grow in support, and is proud to announce new substantial contributions in support of the growth and future of the fraternity/sorority profession.

“The success of the Elevate the Standard campaign continues to grow every day, and the AFA Foundation is honored to have Alpha Omicron Pi, Beta Theta Pi and MJ Sorority join us in our efforts,” said Dr. Carrie Whittier, AFA Foundation chair. “These three organizations have been partners of AFA and the AFA Foundation for many years, and to have their support for this specific fundraising effort is truly wonderful. The AFA Foundation is also deeply grateful for the campaign commitment from Kristin Torrey who is a longtime and very generous donor to the Foundation, and a member of our Amicus Sequentes Planned Giving Society!”

Since its launch in 2024, more than 130 individuals and organizations have committed support for the campaign, and the AFA Foundation is grateful and excited to welcome the following leadership-level contributions to the campaign donor roll:

Alpha Omicron Pi commits to support professional development initiatives

Alpha Omicron Pi joins the ‘Elevate the Standard’ campaign as a leadership-level donor through their commitment to the AFA Foundation’s Board Designated Talent Development Fund. This endowment will allow the AFA Foundation to provide ready-to-access funds for professional development initiatives that are responsive to the evolving needs of the fraternity/sorority professional, allowing AFA to be an immediate positive force in the talent development of our industry.

“Alpha Omicron Pi values the partnerships that have been built across the Interfraternal profession and our friendships that extend well beyond our individual badges,” said Kaya Miller, executive director of Alpha Omicron Pi.” We support AFA’s readiness in responding to the volatile higher education landscape and providing resources to Fraternity & Sorority professionals to address crises or concerns that arise that impact all of us. We are committed to strong relationships that advance the meaning and the impact of Fraternity and are pleased to participate in this campaign to Elevate the Standard.”

Beta Theta Pi continues support of AFA Foundation with unrestricted gift

Beta Theta Pi joins the ‘Elevate the Standard’ campaign as a leadership-level donor through their commitment, focusing their unrestricted gift towards the greatest needs of our profession. With this gift, Beta Theta Pi continues their commitment to the AFA Foundation as one of our largest lifetime donors.

“Beta Theta Pi chose to support the Elevate the Standard Campaign because we value the education and support that AFA provides our campus partners. We believe that the Greek movement is most successful when caring and capable professionals are coaching, mentoring and guiding our members at the campus level,” said Jeff Rundle, chief executive officer of Beta Theta Pi. “The Association equips campus professionals to play their role in the chapter support triangle of an engaged campus partner, involved local advisors and a supportive national or international organization.”

MJ Sorority contributes resources and assets to advance health promotions in fraternity/sorority profession

MJ Sorority joins the “Elevate the Standard’ campaign as a leadership-level donor with an in-kind gift in digital assets and intellectual property designed to advance meaningful education and professional development on health promotions for fraternity/sorority professionals. MJ Sorority has developed leading resources in prevention scholarship, as well as frameworks for application recognizing the FSL professional’s sphere of influence, and AFA and the AFA Foundation are thrilled to continue to advance the work done by MJ Sorority through their Health Promotions Certificate.

“At MJ Sorority, we believe that the foundation of strong fraternal communities is built on the health, safety, and well-being of their members. That’s why we are proud to invest in the professional development of fraternity and sorority advisors by supporting this Health Promotions Course,” said Cindy Stellhorn, executive vice president of MJ Sorority. “Equipping professionals with skills in risk prevention and wellness strengthens not only individual chapters, but the entire fraternity/sorority industry.”

Kristen Torrey joins ‘Elevate the Standard’ with commitment, planned gift

Kristin Torrey, longtime AFA Foundation donor, joins the ‘Elevate the Standard’ campaign as a leadership-level donor through a combination of a cash gift commitment and an Amicus Sequents Circle planned gift. Kristin has been an AFA Foundation donor for more than 20 years, and we are excited to welcome her to the campaign.

“AFA has been my professional home for almost 25 years because it is where I have found the best professional development, the best people and encouragement to make an impact on my campus. I have been connected with smart, talented, passionate colleagues who have made me a better professional,” said Torrey. “I give to the AFA Foundation and support the Elevate the Standard campaign because I believe in investing in the professionals who invest in our students.  Training and retaining top talent has to be a priority in order for our fraternity and sorority communities to succeed.”
