The 2023 AFA Annual Meeting will take place in-person Tuesday, November 28 through Friday, December 1 at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street and Tampa Marriott Water Street properties, located in downtown.

This year’s Annual Meeting schedule and content was created to provide attendees an experience that complements five focus areas:

  • Healthy and Sustainable Growth of Fraternities and Sororities
  • Working Across Differences to Advance Belonging
  • Using Student Success and Wellbeing Practices to Develop Thriving Members
  • Developing Systems and Structures that Lead to Healthy and Sustainable Professionals
  • Transforming the Profession in a Post-Pandemic World

As we continue to reimagine the AFA Annual Meeting experience, this year’s Annual Meeting aims to offer timely and compelling general sessions, create new opportunities for dialogue and relationship building, broaden recognition, and bring quality professional development experiences to those in attendance.

Features of the 2023 Annual Meeting include:

  • Two General Sessions (including one keynote and a panel) – Announcements Coming Soon!
  • The return of the in-person Business Meeting 
  • Pre-conference programming taking place on Tuesday, November 28 and eight educational session blocks, showcasing more than 100 programs tied to expanding knowledge linked to AFA’s Core Competencies – more information coming soon!
  • The Exchange Lounge, a space dedicated to campus-based and (inter)national organization staff/volunteers for meeting at their own pace to discuss mutually beneficial topics 
  • Position and topical specific tracks designed to address skill building and problem solving in the profession of fraternity/sorority life
  • A half-day Research Symposium to showcase the leading research affecting the fraternity/sorority industry 
  • Opportunities to participate in hot-topic discussions and problem-solving roundtables with other attendees
  • Spaces for affinity groups to create community, be empowered, and create change 
  • Experiential learning and relationship building through off-site excursions, the Connections Kick-Off for new Annual Meeting attendees, and meal and activity meet-ups
  • In-person graduate student programs such as Graduate Training Track, the Order of Omega Case Study competition, and Project Job Search
  • The Exhibit Hall where you can work with AFA’s educational partners to discover innovative solutions that enhance your practice and transform your work – and new this year: a time focused on exhibitors to showcase their knowledge and products through live demonstrations! 
  • IGNITE: An innovative micro-learning space for members to share their perspective, thoughts, and experiences

Arrival Information

Programming begins on Tuesday, November 28. If you are a first-time attendee, we suggest arriving at the hotel no later than 2:00 pm ET in order to participate in our First-Timers event, Connections Kickoff. If this is not your first Annual Meeting, programming will begin at 4:30 pm ET; we suggest arriving by 3:30 pm ET to maximize your attendance at educational experiences and other events.Â
