AFA is proud to be a lead partner in the development of the Student Affairs Educator Certification through the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification. This consortium includes representation from each of the founding association partners, including NASPA, ACUHO-I, ACUI, NACA, ASCA, and NIRSA. In addition to the general certification, several specialty certifications are available, including a Fraternity/Sorority Life specialization (CSAEd-FSL).

AFA members receive special pricing on Student Affairs Certification exam fees for the CORE and FSL specialty exam.

AFA provides regular opportunities for professionals to engage in live, virtual education, including through AdvanceU webinars, Legal & Legislative Updates, the First 90 Days program for new professionals, and more. Through AFA membership, professionals can unlock reduced-cost or no-cost access to these programs.

AFA provides a variety of opportunities for flexible professional development when you need it. Professionals can catch up on the educational sessions they may have missed at last year’s Annual Meeting through the Annual Meeting Reload program or build new skills by registering for an on-demand professional development course series. 

AMA members receive access to a growing catalog of on-demand videos and modules in AFA Learning, such as past AdvanceU webinars, Legal & Legislative Updates, and more, for no cost as part of their membership.

The Annual Meeting is AFA’s most intensive and impactful professional development program offering attendees 15+ hours of in-person education, 10+ hours of networking opportunities, and more. This hallmark professional development event brings together a portfolio of programs and experiences designed to enhance and maximize the competency, skills, and overall effectiveness of those in the fraternity/sorority profession.

AFA has identified several Core Competencies that operationally define good practice in the fraternity/sorority profession. The Core Competencies are intended to guide the work of fraternity/sorority professionals and can help to inform professional development efforts and planning
